Normanton Church

Normaton Church on Rutland Water is an amazing place for a few hours peace and tranquillity, with plenty of photographic opportunities. The church itself was scheduled to be flooded in the 70's when the Rutland Reservoir was being planned. Public pressure in the end prevailed, saving the church and maintaining it as the beautiful monument that it is today. The lower levels of the original building actually sit below the water line, having been filled with concrete and then buried. The location is very easily accessed and provides a wonderful focal point for sunset photography. If you would like to read more of the history of Normanton Church please visit this page
